The Recipe Box

Here are some ideas to get you started with great two flavor cakes/cupcake recipes.

  • Basic Chocolate Frosting

    Makes 3 cups of Frosting

    Ingredients
    6 tbsp cocoa powder
    6 tbsp unsalted butter
    6 tbsp heavy cream
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
    Directions
    1. Sift the cocoa powder and powdered sugar in a bowl.
    2. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar mixture together.
    3. Slowly add the heavy cream
    4. Add the vanilla extract
    5. Refridgerate after use
  • Basic White Frosting

    Makes 3 cups of Frosting

    Ingredients
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    3 cups powdered sugar
    2 tbsp heavy cream
    1/2 cup unsalted butter
    1/2 cup vegetable shortening
    Directions
    1. In a large bowl, cream together the vegetable shortening and butter.
    2. Add the vanilla extract.
    3. Alternate adding the heavy cream and powdered sugar.
    4. Refrigerate after use.
  • White Chocolate Frosting

    Makes enough to frost a 3 layer cake

    Ingredients
    1/2 cup plus 2 tbsp sugar
    6 tbsp heavy cream
    1/4 cup unsalted butter
    2 cups white chocolate(cut in small pieces)
    1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
    Directions
    Combine cream, sugar, and butter in saucepan. Bring to full, rolling boil. Boil for 60 seconds. Remove from heat and add white chocolate and vanilla. Stir until candy is melted. Beat until spreading consistency.
  • Whipped Caramel Frosting

    Makes enough to frost a 3 layer cake

    Ingredients
    1 cup unsalted butter
    2 cups firmly packed dark brown sugar
    1/4 cup plus 2 tbsp whipping cream
    2 tsp vanilla extract
    3 3/4 cups powdered sugar
    Directions
    Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the brown sugar & bring to a boil. STIR CONSTANTLY. Stir in the whipping cream & vanilla & bring back to a boil. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool for approximately an hour. Transfer to a mixing bowl. Add the powdered sugar & beat at high speed with an electric mixer until creamy & spreading consistency.
  • Mint Chocolate Cupcakes

    Makes 3 cups of Frosting

    Ingredients: Batter #2
    Prepare a white cake batter from a box mix. Add 1 tbsp of peppermint extract to the finished batter. Add green food coloring, to make a light “mint” green batter.
    Icing:
    Basic Chocolate Frosting. Need more mint? *You can add 1 tsp of peppermint extract to the frosting if you desire*
  • Orange Dreamsicles

    Ingredients: Batter #1
    make your favorite white cake recipe. Make sure to add 1 tsp of vanilla extract.
    Ingredients: Batter #2
    use a white box cake mix. Instead of a cup of water, use 1/2 milk and 1/2 cup orange juice. Add 1 tsp of vanilla extract and 1 tbsp of fresh grated orange zest to the batter.
    Icing:
    Use the Basic White Frosting. Add 2 tsp of orange juice and 1 tsp of fresh grated orange zest to the basic recipe.
  • Lemon Raspberry Delights

    Two flavors that make a killer cheesecake, so why not a killer cupcake?

    Ingredients: Batter #1
    Use a white box cake mix. Instead of a cup of water, use 1/2 milk and 1/2 cup lemon juice. Add 1 tsp of vanilla extract and 1 tbsp of fresh grated lemon zest to the batter.
    Ingredients: Batter #2
    use a white box cake mix. Instead of a cup of water, use 3/4 milk and 1/4 cup of *raspberry syrup. Add 1 tsp of vanilla extract.
    *Raspberry syrup
    Place 1/2 pint of raspberries, a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and 1/4 cup of sugar in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil on your stove. Push through a strainer to separate the seeds.
    Icing:
    Use the Basic White Frosting. Add 2 tsp of lemon juice and 1 tsp of fresh grated lemon zest to the basic recipe
  • Chocolate covered Strawberry Cupcakes

    Ingredients: Batter #1
